Three new loggings! I seem to have not been successful in the past in logging stations on this frequency – partly due to a semi local which is still annoying even after sundown at reduced power.
Howdy!
First MWDX band scan log post in …. YEARS! Barefoot DXing has gotten so much worse in the past couple years. My home and the homes surrounding mine emit so much electrical garbage that there are noise and artifacts everywhere on the band. I’m still going to give it a shot though.
This night I chose to start with the x-band. There are no surprises here and nothing unusual for the area. I’ve included my Boston Massachusetts area locals as well.

Just a quick retro-add AM BCB DX post. I logged a TIS from Jersey City on a portable which I thought was pretty amazing. I also had a couple other unique logings worth mentioning

Just a quick bandscan with my PD-D5 – nothing new. I’m really surprised at how frequent I log WELD 690 from Fisher West Virginia. Dont underestimate its 14 watts of nighttime power.

Logged a couple new signals this night. The local WKOX gets clobbered at night however I’ve never really paid the frequency much attention before now.

A few interesting things… first I was finally able to log CJCL. I have a local 590 that is very hard to null and when I do, I’ve always had Cuba coming in. Another new logging is WHYL 960 out of Carlisle PA (outside Harrisburg). This is a remarkable catch with just 22 watts night time broadcast power. I also logged regional WTUB 700 which was supposed to be signed off at sunset but wasn’t…whoops! I was also happy to catch WEUP on 1700 again. Rarely do I catch anything from the south.

First chance in awhile to DX. I was able to log a new one from Quebec! CJMS came in strong with country music with announcer language FF. It did fade and fight with NJ and IA.

The only things worthy of a mention are logging a new Cuban and also getting some splashes of CJVA for the first time in a long time (AC music, FF ads). I was also able to grab WNJE among WBZ’s IBOC crap.

Snagged some new ones. First, the local spanish religious 1150 is impossible for me to null. The transmitter is way too close. However the preacher had many pauses in between his words and with the radio oriented correctly, I was able to hear and ID CKOC underneath. Also I was able to get not one but two music/nostalgia formatted stations on 1160. Typically its all WVNJ which is in northern New Jersey. However that station was a bit fadey this evening allowing WOBM from further down the Jersey coast to come in. I also got and ID on a separate music signal IDing as “moon”. That turned out to be little WABY which is halfway between Albany NH and Saratoga Springs NY.
